Bottom Line
Trails higher-end cards based on NVidia's GeForce4 Titanium chip, it came out on top thanks to its low price.
Hercules 3D Prophet 8500 LE

WHAT'S HOT: We saw fast frame rates in all of our test games, although this card's performance fell short of that from cards with NVidia's GeForce4 Ti 4400 and 4600 chips.
WHAT'S NOT: Although there's a lot to like about Hercules' first Radeon-based card, the drivers are somewhat buggy. We saw texture problems in a couple of games and an overall lack of contrast.
WHAT ELSE: Hercules has ceased manufacturing cards with NVidia chips and now uses ATI and Kyro graphics chip sets. The result is a reasonably priced iteration of ATI's own Radeon 8500 card that costs about $100 less than ATI's version.
Hercules provides a three-year warranty on parts and labor with 11 hours of weekday toll-free support.
UPSHOT: A fast, powerful card for a steal; however, its drivers are a bit buggy.
