Top 10 Digital Cameras Under $500

New cameras from Olympus, Canon, and Kodak join the sub-$500 list this month.

Olympus's Camedia D-380 lands in fourth, thanks to long battery life and a price of $199; this bare-bones camera is intended to handle only the basics. In ninth, the tiny, 2-megapixel Canon PowerShot S200 records long movies with sound. At number ten, the Kodak DX4900 Zoom takes good photos, but its controls are slow and jerky. Missing the chart, Olympus's Camedia D-520 Zoom has a 3X optical zoom but costs $100 more than the similar D-380, and HP's 4-megapixel Photosmart 812 takes sharp photos but has short battery life.
