ViewSonic P225f

WHAT'S HOT: The P225f achieved the highest scores we've recorded so far in our graphics-screen tests; colors were accurate and photos looked sharp and well focused. ViewSonic provides technical support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You get a wide selection of controls, including those for altering the monitor's focus; missing on many other monitors, such controls can be very useful for keeping the monitor in good condition as it gets older.
WHAT'S NOT: The on-screen controls were not particularly intuitive: It isn't always clear which of the buttons you need to use to navigate through the numerous functions.
WHAT ELSE: This monitor's performance with text was a little less impressive than its graphics showing. Although its text looked sharp, we felt that reading was easier on monitors such as the Compaq P1220 and the Sony CPD-E540, both of which have a slightly finer dot pitch. The monitor comes with a brief setup guide and software that runs through the setup process, plus documentation on a CD-ROM. There are two inputs, one with BNC connectors and one with a conventional VGA connector. There is no button on the bezel to switch between the two inputs--you must make the change through the on-screen menu.
UPSHOT: The ViewSonic P225f would be at home on the desk of anyone who does graphics work or video editing.
