What to Do When ICQ Gets Lost
What to do when ICQ has trouble contacting a particular user.
You may find that you have trouble sending messages to some users in corporate environments. In organizations where PCs share IP numbers, ICQ has difficulty figuring out where to send your messages. Fortunately, there's a cure: The messages can be sent through the main ICQ server rather than directly to the target PC. If you send a message and ICQ finds that the message needs to go through the server, you'll get a dialog box asking you whether you really want to take that action. This is an unnecessary step; to avoid it, set ICQ to automatically send messages through the server when it encounters trouble. Select ICQ, Preferences, click the Events tab, and select Auto Send Messages Through Server.
