Terra Lycos is set to expand its paid inclusion search services, allowing customers to submit their Web sites to multiple search indexes at one time while offering more detailed reports on how users' online advertising campaigns are faring.

The new offerings are part of Lycos InSite 2.0, an expansion on the company's InSite search marketing platform that was launched last February.

The 2.0 platform, due out Monday, allows users to submit their sites to search indexes powered by both Fast Search & Transfer and Inktomi. Fast provides the technology behind Lycos's search index, while Inktomi powers Terra Lycos' HotBot index.

A Wide Web

Furthermore, both Fast and Inktomi power a number of other search indexes, offering Lycos clients the ability to have their sites come up in searches across the Web.

"Lycos' goal here is to make Lycos InSite a pan-Internet marketing platform," said Tom Wilde, general manager of Lycos Search.

The cost of submitting to Fast is $35 for the first URL and $15 for additional URLs. Submission to Inktomi costs $39 for the first URL and $29 for additional URLs.

InSite's new multiple-listing feature comes thanks to an agreement Lycos forged with Position Technologies, which is providing a private label suite of tools for Web site owners to submit their content and monitor campaigns with click-tracking reporting features.

Position Technologies is also serving up its PositionPro service for Lycos clients, which analyzes Web sites and helps optimize content for increased search engine rankings. The PositionPro offering, which is an "a la carte" service, according to Wilde, is priced at $249 to $819, depending on the number of pages submitted.

"This is the most significant upgrade of our paid inclusion platform that we've done to date," said Wilde.

Although Lycos does not provide subscription figures, the InSite service has experienced "robust growth" since it's launch earlier this year, according to Wilde.

In August, Barcelona-based Internet group also launched an advertising platform, dubbed InSite AdBuyer, which allows users to plan and manage the promotion of their Web sites using auction-based keyword marketing and paid inclusion services.

"Lycos has always been associated with search, so site owners look to us for new solutions," Wilde said.
