Top 10 Digital Cameras

New cameras from Canon, Olympus, and Fujifilm hit the chart, but there's no change at the top.

Cameras of many different shapes and sizes hit the digital camera chart this month, from the svelte (but expensive) Olympus Stylus 300 to the chunky (but cheap) Fujifilm FinePix 2650. The latter makes a strong showing, thanks to a combination of good image quality and a very attractive price; but with a depth of 2.1 inches, it's nearly twice as thick as the Olympus Stylus 300 Digital. Though its waterproof case and other features are pluses, the Stylus 300 Digital took poorly exposed photos both indoors and outside. The S230 Digital Elph, a 3.2-megapixel addition to Canon's stylish and popular Elph line, produced fine-looking images. Meanwhile, the Kyocera FineCam S5 failed to reach the chart--despite being the first 5-megapixel camera we've seen priced at under $500--due to skimpy features, unimpressive support, and hard-to-use controls.
