Digital Focus: Shoot Products for EBay

Dave's Favorites: Better Product Photos With the Internet Photo Studio

Do you use EBay often? You can use the technique I described this week to get some smart-looking photos without a lot of effort; but some kinds of products demand different treatment. What if you're trying to photograph small items like jewelry or portable electronics? I've been using the Internet Photo Studio for just this kind of job.

This compact device features two lights--one above, one below--and lets you integrate a poster board backdrop that "sweeps" behind the subject for very elegant, professional-looking results.

I've found the Internet Photo Studio to be ideal for small items. It delivers even, attractive lighting and is small enough to put almost anywhere (it needs about 10 by 13 inches of table space). The top light can be positioned to eliminate shadows and reflections.

The Internet Photo Studio costs $200 and is available from Argraph Digital Imaging.
