Tip: Professional Isn't Premium

DataViz's Documents To Go 6.0 Professional Edition, included on the Palm Tungsten T3 and E models, lacks a few key features included in the Premium Edition. Among them: word count, spell checker, password protection of files, and support for PDF viewing. You can upgrade to the Premium Edition for $30, however.

Tip: When You Can--and Can't--Beam

If you have DataViz Documents To Go 6.0 on your Palm, you can now beam word processing and spreadsheet files to Pocket PCs, as long as your files are in native Word and Excel formats (which Documents To Go 6.0 supports). But you can't beam those documents to Palm OS PDA users with older versions of Documents To Go. That's because Documents To Go 6.0 isn't backward compatible with earlier versions of the program, according to a DataViz spokesperson.

Review: Treo 600

Handspring's new Palm-based PDA/cell phone hybrid Treo 600 deserves its reputation as the gotta-have gadget of the moment, says PCWorld.com reviewer Yardena Arar. Though packed with features, the Treo 600 is a sleek, 5.9-ounce device with a bright, crisp, 1.75-inch-square screen. The Treo 600 includes a built-in keyboard but doesn't support Graffiti or other handwritten input. The embedded digital camera captures so-so 640-by-480 pictures. Web pages are readable via the included Blazer browser. One nag: The POP3 e-mail client downloads messages before allowing you to send one--which is bound to frustrate business users.
