News: Nokia's Push-to-Talk Camera Phone

Nokia recently unveiled its first cell phone/walkie-talkie (also called ?push-to-talk")/camera device, the 5140. The company also said it was the first to offer push-to-talk phone-based Global System for Mobile Communications technology. The phone should be available by mid 2004; it will be priced between $150 and $200 in the United States.

News: Movies on the Move

Tight Audio Systems' Taz I is a portable audio and video system that resembles a tiny Tablet PC and can play TV shows and even high-definition television. Taz I features a 60GB hard drive that's capable of storing 20 hours of TV, 20 movies, and a music library equaling about 150 music CDs. The device has a 4-inch LCD screen. An add-on pack enables you to record TV programs. As I write this, pricing is not yet available.

News: CompactFlash Cards Speed Up

Renesas Technology plans to begin selling a CompactFlash memory card with a write speed faster than any other CF card, according to the company. The card (around $310) will contain 1GB of memory and support data writing speeds up to 10MB per second. SanDisk's Ultra CF cards, by comparison, write data at 2.8MB per second.
