LAS VEGAS -- In a sign that Bluetooth may be making its way into the corporate market, GN Netcom has introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show here two Bluetooth headset models intended for business.
The two new headsets, the GN6110 and GN6210, have DuoLink technology, a software layer that enables each Bluetooth headset to support a desk phone and a cell phone concurrently. A user can make a call on either phone using just the one headset, according to the company.
A base station, bundled with the headset, contains a Bluetooth transceiver and connects to the desk phone. If the headset detects a base station in proximity, it initiates a call on the desk phone. Otherwise, it initiates a call on the cell phone. Both headsets can locate base stations within about a 30-foot range.
Users can answer or make outgoing calls on the desk phone and mobile phone by pressing the "Answer/Call" button on the headset. Both headsets also recognize voice commands, according to representatives of GN Netcom.
Product Specs
The DuoLink GN6110 weighs under an ounce. It features 4 hours of talk time and one week of standby time. The GN6110 will sell for $299, and is scheduled to ship worldwide in the first quarter.

According to the company, it can reproduce crisp sound, as it incorporates soft, sound-absorbing elastomer material and has a gel tip that directs sound into a user's ear. It has a talk time of up to 4 hours and a standby time of up to 100 hours. Pricing will be announced when the product ships worldwide in the second quarter, according to GN Netcom.
The headsets are based on the design of GN Netcom's Jabra FreeSpeak over-the-ear headset. A charger for the new Bluetooth headsets comes with the base stations, and a travel charger is bundled with both headsets, as well. GN Netcom markets a line of other Bluetooth-enabled headsets.
