The P1750 offers especially sharp text, compared with other large CRTs.

With HP wireless printers, you could have printed this from any room in the house. Live wirelessly. Print wirelessly.

While most LCDs still offer better text than CRTs, the P1750 is a respectable option for people who prefer a CRT's virtues--such as the lower-than-LCD price for a comparable screen area and the ability to support several resolutions. Though it uses the same core electronics as the NEC MultiSync FE2111SB--which we also evaluated for our February issue--the P1750 earned noticeably better text quality scores from our jury. But that performance edge comes at a price. At the time or our review, the P1750 sold for $150 more than the FE2111SB, and Cornerstone offers a scant 8 hours per weekday of telephone support, in contrast to NEC-Mitsubishi's round-the-clock coverage.

Upshot: Buyers willing to spend more for the P1750 than for competitors will be rewarded with stellar text quality.
