News: Talk on Your Toshiba
Users of Toshiba notebooks, Tablet PCs, and desktop PCs can use their computers as telephones, thanks to new software. Toshiba SoftIPT SoftPhone allows you to make calls over the Internet using Voice over Internet protocol technology. The software costs about $200 per license, depending on the number of licenses purchased and other factors. It lets you answer and forward calls, retrieve voice mail, make conference calls, and more, according to the company.
Review: Beauty on a Budget
The WinBook C120 is an attractive, well-appointed notebook for business travelers on a budget, says PC World's Carla Thornton. You won't get a parallel port, but you will get three USB ports; a FireWire port; a memory card reader that handles SmartMedia, Secure Digital, and Memory Stick flash memory devices; and a keyboard that's comfortable for touch typists. The price of our review unit was just $1249, and the battery lasted 4.75 hours on one charge. The C120's battery takes up the rear of the unit, unfortunately, and that forces all connections to the sides and front, which could be inconvenient on a crowded desk.

Review: A Wide-Screen LifeBook
The Fujitsu LifeBook P5020's 10.6-inch display, coupled with a convenient, modular drive bay, makes this ultraportable an appealing traveling companion, our reviewer Carla Thornton says. But the keyboard takes some getting used to, and the native resolution of 1280 by 768 makes Windows icons so small you'll have to squint to see them. You can reduce the resolution to 1024 by 768 to make icons bigger, but they'll also look blurry and stretched.
