The Eizo Nanao FlexScan L367 displayed photographs with true-to-life colors and showed crisp text on most of our test screens.

The monitor's controls are easy to navigate and offer many options for refining images. The FlexScan L367 also provides a Fine Contrast button that toggles through five image modes--settings optimized for different kinds of content, such as movies, photographs, or text. You can also manually adjust the color temperature, brightness, and color saturation for each mode.

Using Eizo's included ScreenManager Pro software (which runs on Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, and XP), you can assign individual brightness and contrast levels to each of your desktop applications. ScreenManager Pro, which communicates with the monitor via a USB cable from the PC, also lets you assign hot keys on your keyboard to perform the same functions as the control buttons on the monitor's bezel.

Eizo's printed documentation covers the basics but doesn't provide detailed explanations of the monitor's controls. An HTML manual we downloaded from the company's Web site was much more thorough.

The display's power adapter is built in (which helps reduce cable clutter under your desk), as are a pair of speakers (though their sound was flat and tinny). As with many monitors, the panel comes off its stand for wall mounting, and it is available in black or gray. A headphone jack is conveniently located on the front of the bezel. Though the monitor's height is adjustable, the stand doesn't swivel from side to side, and you can't pivot the screen into portrait mode.

Since we last reviewed one of this company's monitors, Eizo Nanao has changed its support policies: It now offers 24-hour telephone support, seven days a week--a welcome improvement over the weekday-only support it used to offer.

Advanced users will appreciate the L367's flexible controls, and digital photography buffs will like the rich color photos it displays.
