News: Motion Computing's Latest Tablet PC
Motion Computing's third-generation slate-style Tablet PC, the M1400, features a new Intel processor, the 1.1-GHz Ultra Low Voltage Pentium M, as well as an improved 12.1-inch display that provides a wider viewing angle than earlier models. The M1400's audio system has been enhanced as well, the company says: A second microphone has been added to the tablet's front, and new technology reduces background noise and provides adjustable microphone settings.
A base configuration includes 256MB of 333-MHz DDR SDRAM, a 20GB hard drive, Bluetooth wireless networking, an integrated fingerprint reader, and a six-cell lithium ion battery for $1999.
News: Centrino Successor Coming Soon
Intel's next-generation Centrino technology, code-named Sonoma, should begin appearing in new notebooks during the second half of this year, the company says. Sonoma is based on an updated Pentium M chip that costs less to make than earlier chips, can offer faster performance, and consumes less power. The Sonoma architecture will include an updated wireless networking chip set that features lower power consumption, an improved software interface, and support for the 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g wireless networking standards.
News: Dell's Got Game
Dell's latest gaming notebook, the Inspiron XPS, promises the processing power, fast graphics, and booming sound that gamers demand. The $2449 portable includes an Intel Pentium 4 or Pentium 4 Extreme Edition processor running at 3.4 GHz, an ATI Technologies Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics card, a gigabit ethernet port, a six-speaker system with a subwoofer, a 15.4-inch UXGA screen, and a DVI port, among other specs.
