Windows Tips: Access Your Desktop From Wherever You May Be

Windows Toolbox: Redesign Your Keyboard for Free With KeyTweak

Click here to view full-size image(2K, XP) A few years back, I told you how to edit your Windows Registry to remap the keys on your keyboard (see "Remap Your Keyboard"). Key remapping is especially useful to IBM ThinkPad users, whose keyboards lack a Windows key and who are willing to give up another one (such as Caps Lock) to get it. Fortunately, Travis Krumsick has automated the process. His brainchild, KeyTweak, lets you change keys by clicking the one you want to remap on an onscreen keyboard, choosing its new function from a handy drop-down list, and selecting Remap Key. When you've got all your remappings set, just double-check them and click Apply. If you make a boo-boo, it's easy to restore the default mapping for one change or for all of them. You can download a free copy of KeyTweak from Travis Krumsick's Web Page.
