The NEC MultiSync LCD1980SX earned a score of Outstanding on our graphics quality tests, largely thanks to lifelike skin tones and excellent detail in our test photo. The monitor's strong suit in our text tests was its ability to display multiple sizes and shades of fonts, helping it earn a respectable score of Very good. Although the controls are acceptable with guidance, the labels on the small buttons would be difficult to decipher without a manual. Physical adjustments--swivel, height, pivot, and tilt--hit a happy medium, neither too stiff nor too slippery to change easily. Pivot software is included for this thin-bezel monitor.

Thin-bezel unit makes graphics look great, and it's no slouch on text; versatile physical adjustments keep the user from slouching, too.
