Portable IPod Boom Box

The IBoom may not wow music purists, but it sounds good enough to carry around.

Photograph: Marc SimonThe $150 IBoom is a great little boom box for your third- or fourth-generation IPod, or your IPod Mini. It runs off AC power or six D batteries, and if plugged in, charges your docked IPod. With four speakers and 20 watts of power, the IBoom won't wow audio purists (the bass is too heavy and there's no built-in equalizer). Still, I was pretty thrilled: It was loud enough, sounded good enough, and--thanks to a convenient handgrip--was easy to carry around my house during a day of chores.
