Bottom Line: You can manually fine-tune channel reception, and it's easy to capture and manage stills, though some buttons on the external remote control aren't intuitive. Time-shifted video looked smooth while the device recorded at high quality settings. Includes an IR blaster for sending commands to a set-top box.

Bottom Line: Best external remote control, which uses radio frequency to achieve a wider range than IR remotes can manage. Recording at high quality settings didn't degrade picture quality of time-shifted video. Recording with the GuidePlus+ EPG is well integrated. On-screen control panel makes capturing stills easy, and a toolbar offers quick access to other features.

Bottom Line: Recording at high quality settings didn't affect picture quality of live TV. Software allows you to fine-tune channel reception manually, and simplifies capturing and managing stills. External remote can be confusing, however.
