Accessory Review: Untangle Your Headset Cords
Here's a big one in my Pet Peeve department: tangled earbud and headset cords. Dr. Bott and other retailers sell a piece of shapely silicone called a Smartwrap that you wrap a cord around and fasten at either end, thus easily adjusting the length. I bought a pack of three (clear, white, and black) for $12, and I'm ready to order more.
PDA News: Mobile Antivirus Software
Software security company F-Secure recently released a version of its Mobile Antivirus program that's designed to protect PDAs and smart phones running Windows Mobile OS. The software provides wirelessly connected gadgets with real-time protection against viruses, worms, and Trojan horses--which are growing threats, I'm afraid to say.
Mobile Antivirus costs $35 for a 12-month subscription.
Portable Printer Review: HP's New Photosmart 475
HP's new Photosmart 475 ($280) portable photo printer has a 1.5GB hard drive, which lets you copy pictures from your camera to the printer, freeing up space on your camera's storage. You also get four media-card slots and the ability to print borderless 5-by-7-inch prints, in addition to 4-by-6 snapshots.
PC World reviewer Paul Jasper's test prints at both sizes had rich color and sharp details, though some prints had an unsightly band of color along one of the edges.
