End ICQ Spam

End ICQ SpamSimple settings block unwanted ads and other annoyances.Matthew Newton

Some users have tremendous spam problems when on ICQ, while others never receive an unwanted message. If you're one of the unlucky ones, there are steps you can take to end the ICQ spam nightmare. From the main ICQ 99 window, select ICQ, Security & Privacy. Click the Contact List tab. Place a check mark beside "Do not accept Multi-Recipient Messages from," and select "Users not on my Contact List" in the drop-down list. Now messages from strangers that go in a thousand different directions (as much spam does) will simply be ignored. If you'd like to be even more draconian in your antispam efforts, click the "Accept messages only from users on my contact list" check box in this dialog. Now only your contacts can send you messages. Unless you've got some obnoxious friends, that ought to kill the spam for sure.
