When ICQ 99 Crawls

Bugged by ICQ slowing down when you type a message? Fix it!

Since upgrading to ICQ 99, you might have experienced a problem with the program slowing way down when you type out a message. The trouble stems from the crazy typewriter noise that ICQ 99 makes by default. Disable that sound, and you solve the speed problem as well. Here's how.

Double-click the flower icon in your system tray to bring up the main ICQ window.
Select ICQ, Preferences. Click the Events tab.
Click the Configure button beside Play Sounds.
Scroll down to Message Typing.
Click it once to select it, then click the Disable button.
Click OK twice.
