Smart Phone News: Treo 700p Promises Faster Web Browsing

Sprint and Verizon are now selling Palm's Treo 700p, the first Palm OS-based Treo to run on a broadband EvDO cellular network. The new 700p should provide significantly faster Web browsing, a 1.3 megapixel camera, more memory (128MB, compared to the Treo 650's 32MB), and other enhancements.

Notebook News: The Smallest Vaio Yet

Small is getting big. Sony's newest Vaio U ultracompact line now includes the company's teensiest Vaio yet. The UX50 Windows XP-based notebook is about the size of a paperback book. It comes with a touch-screen display and a full QWERTY keyboard. The system will cost about $1800 when it's sold in the U.S. in July, the company says.

Notebook Review: Dell's Value-Entertainment Inspiron

The latest Dell Inspiron, the E1505, is a budget notebook that fills the gap between the company's high-end Inspiron E1705 and ultraportable Inspiron 710m. The E1505 received a PCW Rating of 85 (very good). Our test unit ($1149) was loaded with Windows Media Center Edition; an optional external USB TV tuner ($104) turns the notebook into a portable TV. (Our Product Finder has the latest pricing.)
