Gadget Alert: A $400 Digital Camcorder
Sanyo recently announced the $399 CA6, a flash-memory-based digital camcorder that is said to be splash-resistant (as opposed to waterproof) and can capture low-res video for Apple iPods, Sony PlayStation Portables, and other handheld devices. Notebook News: The Greatest Notebook of All Time
In honor of the recent 25th anniversary of the IBM PC, PC World editors huddled together to identify the "25 Greatest PCs of All Time." So what was the top laptop? The IBM ThinkPad 700C. Number 5 on the top 25 list, this notebook "ushered in a new era for laptop computers" when it was introduced in 1992. The 700C was the first ThinkPad, featuring the distinctive black case and red TrackPoint pointing device. With the ThinkPad 700C, a laptop was finally both useful and stylish.
Gadget Alert: Sony's Wi-Fi Personal Communicator
Sony's new Mylo personal communicator lets you go online via an 802.11b wireless network connection, send and receive instant messages, and use VoIP software for phone calls. The $350 device features a 2.4-inch color screen and a slide-out thumb board.
