UMPC News: Samsung Introduces New Ultramobile PCs
Samsung has launched two new versions of its Q1 ultramobile PC. The Q1-Pentium runs a 1-GHz Intel Pentium M 723 processor, has 1GB of memory, a 60GB hard drive, and is priced at $1250. The $900 Q1b is based on Via Technologies' 1-GHz C7 processor and has 512MB of memory and a 40GB hard drive. Both machines feature a 7-inch widescreen touch-panel display with 800-by-480 pixel resolution.
Mobile Entertainment News: Redirect TV Programs to Your Cell Phone
Two new services let you redirect home TV shows to your cell phones. Sling Media plans to offer SlingPlayer Mobile software, which is compatible with Symbian OS-based cell phones, in the fourth quarter. The software will let Slingbox users watch TV on their mobile phones over Wi-Fi or high-speed 3G connections. Separately, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications announced a similar service, in which users of some Sony Ericsson phones can download new software to watch TV via Sony's LocationFree service.
