Tip: Speeding Up Your Startup
When you're on the go (or even when you're not), waiting for your notebook to start up can be painful. You can reduce startup time by preventing infrequently used programs from automatically loading. In Windows XP, select Start, Run, type msconfig, and press Enter. (Vista users should select Start, type msconfig into the Search box, and press Enter.) Click the Startup tab to view a list of all your autoloading programs. Uncheck an item to keep it from loading at startup. You can get other startup enhancement tips from PC World's Lincoln Spector.
News: Mobile Banking on the Way
Bank of America's online customers will be able to use their mobile handsets to check account balances, pay bills, and transfer funds. The bank is launching a secure mobile banking service in Tennessee this month, which will be rolled out soon to other cities around the country.
