Works 2000 includes more than 250 templates that help you create everything from cover letters and resumes to gift lists and financial statements. But why stop with the prepackaged samples? It's easy to create, store, and retrieve templates of your own for documents--thank you notes, for example, or holiday letters--that you know you're going to want to use again.
Next time you create one of these documents, select File, Save As. Click the Template button at the bottom right, and in the next dialog, name the template and click OK. The first time you do this, Works 2000 generates a new category--Personal Templates--at the bottom of the list in the Tasks view. To call up one of these custom templates later, click Personal Templates, select the appropriate template name, and then click Start.
To delete a custom template on this list, right-click it and choose Delete from the context menu. The file remains on your hard disk--all you've erased is the Task entry. To actually delete the file, use Windows Explorer to reach the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\Template folder. Locate and delete the file.
