Apple on Friday released iTunes 7.3. The update is available through the Software Update system preference or directly from the Apple Web site.

This update is being offered to provide compatibility with the iPhone, which launches this evening at 6:00 PM. The new version enables iPhone users to activate service for their phone and syncs the iPhone with music, movies, TV shows and more.

iTunes 7.3 also enables users to share digital photos from any computer in the house with an Apple TV.

System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or Mac OS X v10.4.7 or later. A separate version is also available for Windows.
