Japanese Ditch TV Time in Favor of Nintendo Wii

Nintendo Wii isn't just outselling the PS3 6 to 1 in Japan, it's even stealing numbers from the prime-time TV audience in the country.

"The quality of programming has always been a little cyclical in Japan, but there has never been a period of decline like the one we are seeing now," the executive said regarding the drop in viewership. "The really big factor is the time people are spending on the Wii."

The article claims that audience theft is taking place because television producers and their programming have to compete with more than just other channels now. That seems to include the highly successful Wii at the moment.
