Hot Pic of the Week: "World of Triangles," by Vanessa Sam, Emeryville, California

Vanessa writes: "I took this in Hong Kong. Because we were still jetlagged, we went out very early in the morning to walk around the city and chanced upon the beautiful morning sun shining through these slanted columns, creating an infinity of triangles."

Hot Pic of the Week: "Snake Bitten," by Justin Broniszewski, Oneida, New York

Justin writes: "Since buying my first digital camera, I have been trying to photograph my die-casts in a way that is realistic. The Kodak P850 allows me to get shots like this one. The model is a 2003 Dodge Viper SRT-10."

Hot Pic of the Week: "Dew Drop In Color," by Kathy Clarke, Edgewater, Florida

Kathy writes: "I originally took this as a color photograph, in which the stem is actually orange. I love blank-and-white photography and decided to change this image, leaving just a color accent in the dew drop."

Hot Pic of the Week: "Tulips Everywhere," by Kevin Fenn, Spanish Fork, Utah

Kevin writes: "I was down on my hands and knees playing around with the macro zoom on my Canon SD600, and I liked the way this pink tulip stood out amongst its peers. The snowcapped mountains in the background add a nice touch."

Hot Pic of the Week: "Future Looks Bright," by Jeremy Reed, Ottawa, Illinois

Jeremy says that he took this photo of his son Rutger as he looked into the clouds. Then he selected portions of the image and converted it to black-and-white, leaving the glasses with the original color intact.

Runner-up: "Come to Dinner," by Russ Fortson, Houston, Texas

Russ writes: "I took this shot of four egrets outside my office; they were marching through the grass trying to scare up bugs for dinner. I took it with my Pentax K100D and Sigma 50-500 lens."

Runner-up: "Rusted," by Jennean Wright, Provo, Utah

Jennean writes: "I took this picture in my backyard, on a piece of wood that surrounds my garden using a Kodak Easyshare C875. I set it on Close-Up."

Runner-up: "The Sound of Shadows," by Brian Starr, Galesburg, Illinois

Brian writes: "I was playing around with my 100mm macro while shooting my guitar. I opened the aperture all the way to blur everything except for the bridge of the guitar."

Runner-up: "Fuzzy Falls," by Bruce Tippitt, Evansville, Indiana

Bruce writes: "I took this photo at a small creek in the Smoky Mountains. I used a long exposure with a neutral density filter over the lens to get a slower shutter speed."

Runner-up: "Venus in Transit," by Scott Ferguson, Bradenton, Florida

Scott writes, "On June 8, 2004, Venus passed in front of the Sun for the first time since 1882. I used a white light filtered 8-inch LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and a Kodak DX4330 camera."
