USB 2.0 Server Shares Devices on Network

Keyspan's new USB 2.0 Server enables Mac users to share printers and other devices over a network.

Keyspan on Wednesday introduced a new USB 2.0 Server for Macs and PCs. It enables users to connect to remote USB devices over Ethernet. The device costs $129.

The USB 2.0 Server works with printers, scanners, digital cameras and flash drives, according to Keyspan. It permits bidirectional communication, so users can monitor ink and paper levels on remote printers.

The USB 2.0 Server sports a single 10/100baseT Ethernet connecor, and supports zero-configuration network configuration. It connects to two USB devices simultaneously, and provides 500mA of power to each port.

System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later.
