Apple's sleek new aluminum keyboard comes standard with the new iMac and is also available for purchase separately, for existing Macs. But if you haven't installed Apple's Keyboard Software Update 1.1, you're probably not getting full functionality out of the device.

The software update - available for download from Apple's Web site - takes "advantage of the special features" of the keyboard, according to Apple.

Those "special features," as introduced by Steve Jobs at an event in Cupertino earlier this week where the new iMac was unveiled, enable you to control screen brightness, activate Expose, Dashboard and provides some media control buttons that work with iTunes. The new features are included both on the $49 wired, full sized keyboard and the $79 Bluetooth-equipped wireless keyboard.
