Prepare for Installation

Whether you're installing an internal IDE drive or a parallel port drive, back up your hard drive before you begin. Some internal IDE CD-RW drives include software that analyzes your PC's IDE setup and suggests how to install your drive. If your drive came with such software, use it and print the results. If you have an IDE drive, go to Step 2. If it's a parallel port drive, go to Step 4.
