Sony announced a new extended-life PSP battery on Tuesday amid long-standing complaints of the handheld's limited juice.

As reported by PSP Fanboy, the PSP Extended Life Battery Kit will work on both older and newer PSP-2000 models.

The new kit promises 20 percent more battery life for older models and 80 percent more life for newer ones. A new battery cover will be included with the pack as the updated battery bulges slightly on newer PSP systems.

Sony will release the extended battery in mid-December with an MSRP of US$44.99.
