Symantec has introduced Norton AntiVirus Dual Protection for Mac.

The security software offers protection for both the Mac and Windows partitions for Boot Camp or users of other virtualization products and costs $98, which includes a one-year subscription for virus updates.

Norton AntiVirus Dual Protection for Mac combines Norton AntiVirus 2008 for Windows with Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac. The software automatically installs the latest virus and malware updates in the background. The software will also scan and clean downloaded files and attachments automatically.

"As the popularity of parallel operating systems increases, Mac users are at increased risk of vulnerabilities and viruses from threats targeted at both Macs and PCs. This is why an extra layer of security is needed, to ensure users are protected against both sets of threats," said Con Mallon, director of product marketing, Symantec.

Norton AntiVirus Dual Protection for Mac also includes performance and engine improvements to ensure better compatibility and less impact on system startup and resource usage, so users can safely continue their online activities without impacting their productivity.
