3/11/08 Hot Pic: "Child's Play," by Grayce Pedulla Dillon, Fort Pierce, Florida

Grayce writes: "When I found these childish items in my local dollar store, I knew I had to photograph them. I set up a makeshift studio on a table top and experimented with different lighting. Using my Kodak D6490 set on a tripod, I took plenty of shots from many angles and distances."

3/18/08 Hot Pic: "Lightning Storm," by Tom Barclay, Lisbon, Connecticut

Tom writes: "I took this photo in South Africa in my sister's backyard during one of the nightly thunderstorms. The exposure time was approximately 8 seconds (I left the shutter open while waiting for the lightning flash). I added the water afterwards in Photoshop using the Flaming Pear Flood filter."

3/26/08 Hot Pic: "Napali Coast Reflection," by Allen Casebolt, Rocklin, California

Allen writes: "I was on a cruise around the Hawaiian islands. The day we passed by Kauai's Napali Coast, it was cloudy and dull. So I took this photo of a reflection of the coast in a window on the deck. I used my Nikon D70 and converted the photo to black-and-white using Photoshop Elements."

3/4/08 Runner-Up: "Maasai Heart," by Janna Silverstein, Seattle, Washington

Janna writes: "I was thrilled when I captured this Maasai woman in her village in Kenya this past September using my new Nikon D80. All the other women in the village were wearing plain blue clothing, but this woman's dress... was a standout. This is one of my favorite shots from the trip."

Lilly writes: "I took this photo at Fort Hancock back in October. Fort Hancock is located in Sandy Hook National Park in central New Jersey. I used a Canon Powershot 80A."

Jeff writes: "I took this picture of my grandson in his Halloween costume using a Canon Digital Rebel. I then added the zoom effect using Adobe Photoshop CS2. My grandson commented that he didn't think he was that fast."
