Acma C533

The first Celeron-533 weve seen is slower than most Celeron-500-based PCs.

WHAT'S HOT: An excellent documentation box ships with the C533, comprising the hardware information, the quick-setup guide, and the system manual, which has heaps of useful troubleshooting information. Colors on the Impression 7Plus 17-inch monitor appeared rich and full and text displayed clearly, though it blurred a bit at the maximum resolution of 1280-by-1024.

WHAT'S NOT: This Acma is the first Celeron-533 we've tested, but its score of 200 on our PC WorldBench 98 tests falls below that of the average Celeron-500 score we've reviewed. The system interior is very neat, but it contains only three open slots and two open expansion bays.

WHAT ELSE: You gain access to the interior by removing a unique thumbscrew--only the cap of the screw comes off--and then taking the entire flimsy case off the minitower. The solid keyboard clacked when we typed on it, and the basic, two-speaker Labtec LCW-1016SEWN set produced mediocre sound and limited bass.

BEST USE: With a modem, a network card, MS Office 2000 SBE, and a price tag of only $1299, the Acma C533 could find a home in most small-office environments.
