Canon U.S.A. on Monday introduced the new Pixma iP100 mobile printer for Mac OS X and Windows. It costs US$249.99.

The printer can print up to 9600 x 2400 dot per inch (DPI) resolution. It prints up to 20 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 14 ppm in color, and can output 4x6, 4x8, 5x7, 8x10 and letter size images -- borderless, as well. It includes PictBridge support, which means it can print images from compatible cameras without needing to be connected to a computer first. Otherwise it sports a USB 2.0 interface.

The printer has a built-in IrDA port, which lets it print wirelessly from supported devices. Canon is also offering the BU-30, a Bluetooth interface, for $49.99.

As a portable printer, the iP100 can operate on battery -- Canon offers the optional LK-62, which lasts for about 290 pages on a three-hour charge, for $99.99. An automobile power unit (which plugs into the cigarette lighter or accessory socket on a car) is also available for $89.99.

Canon's Web site had not been updated with information about the Pixma iP100 as Macworld posted this article.
