Blackmagic Design has introduced a new version of its DeckLink HD Extreme, a PCI Express (PCIe)-based video input/output card for professional editors and videographers. The new card costs US$995.

Compatible with Mac OS X and Windows, the card occupies two adjacent PCIe slots on a host Mac Pro. It features SDI, HDMI and analog video capture and playback, along with balanced analog and AES/EBU digital audio. The card sports NTSC, PAL and S-Video capture and playback as well.

New features in this iteration of the DeckLink HD Extreme include HDMI capture and playback, 3 Gb/s SDI and 3D lookup tables. The 3 Gb/s SDI capabilities makes it possible for the card to instantly switch to full-resolution 2K film editing, and the 3D lookup tables help users to simulate feature film stocks.

The card is compatible with Apple's Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshpp, Shake, Motion, Combustion and many other software applications.
