Ads or No Ads?

The latest version Eudora 4.3 adds ads to your e-mail screen--here's how to make them vanish.

Editor's Note: Qualcomm is breaking new ground with version 4.3 of its venerable Eudora e-mail client. The full version of the program is now available for free--just head to the Eudora Web site and download the app. By default, the program will display ads; paying for the software or choosing a reduced feature set will make the ads disappear. Our Daily Tips this week serve as an introduction to Eudora 4.3 and its ad "feature."

Eudora Pro 4.3's free because it slaps ads all over itself like a NASCAR driver. Those ads, which by default appear in the bottom-left corner of the Eudora window, are the only price you pay for the Net's premier e-mail client. You can make those ads go away, if you're willing to work with a diminished Eudora, the product formerly known as Eudora Light. To vanquish the advertisements and use the Light mode, choose Help, Payment and Registration, then click on the "Light mode" button at the right side of the first row. You can return to full functionality (with ads) by again visiting Help, Payment and Registration and clicking "Sponsored mode."
