Tumult Co. on Wednesday announced the release of HyperEdit 1.6, an update to their HTML and PHP editor for Mac OS X. A free update for registered users, HyperEdit costs US$25.

HyperEdit features a split view with a text editor and a preview pane so you can display the Web page you're working on as you type. It also red-underlines any mistakes you make using W3C-based validation. It uses Safari's same rendering engine, as well.

Changes in version 1.6 include support for Safari 3.1's Web Inspector, the ability to display invisibles, auto-update support, some stability fixes, and improved support for Mac OS X v10.5 "Leopard."

System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4 or later. A demo is available.
