Hothead Games has released Penny Arcade Adventures Volume One: On the Rain-Slicked Precipice of Darkness. The new game is available for OS X, Windows, and Linux, and costs US$19.99. You can buy and download the game from Greenhouse, Hothead's game distribution site, which also offers a playable demo.

The first installment of an expected series of games, Penny Arcade Adventures Volume One is the first game to feature Gabe and Tycho, the two central characters who appear in the Webcomic Penny Arcade.

This story takes place in the fictional 1920's-era city of New Arcadia, where a rampaging robot, obscene anthropomorphic juice makers, mimes, and other horrors have descended on an unprepared populace. Gabe and Tycho, heads of the Startling Developments Detective Agency, try to get to the bottom of the mystery with your assistance and the help of other friends.

It's a 3-D action adventure featuring a "Create-a-Player" system that lets you customize your in-game character, a turn-based combat system, and authentic art and dialogue from the creators of Penny Arcade.

The game sports the same ribald and irreverent humor as the Webcomic, meriting an M for Mature rating by the ESRB.

System requirements call for OS X 10.4 or later,; a G4/1GHz or faster processor (Intel included); ATI Radeon 9500, Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 or Intel GMA 950 or better graphics with at least 64MB VRAM; 512MB RAM; and 350MB hard disk space.
