Pure Digital Technologies on Wednesday introduced the Flip Video Mino, a new slim version of its digital video camcorder line that weighs slightly more than 3 ounces. It costs US$179.99 and is Mac and PC-compatible.
The Flip Video Mino sports 2GB of on-board flash memory and a 1.5-inch anti-glare LCD display. It measures 3.94 x 1.97 x 0.63 inches, and captures 640 x 480 pixel MPEG-4 AVI video at 30 frames per second with an average bit rate of 4.0Mbps.
The Flip Video Mino also has a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery and a fixed lens. The manufacturer says you can record up to 60 minutes of video on the device, then you can transfer the files to a Mac or PC using the camera's built-in software and an integrated USB 2.0 interface.
The built-in software also helps you upload content to social networking sites like MySpace, YouTube and AOL video; you can create videos and video greeting cards that you can send to others via e-mail; custom-edit movie "mixes," capture still photo frames from videos, and order DVDs online.
The Flip Video Mino also features a tripod mount, and Pure Digital Technologies sells other accessories like a tripod, AC power adapter, action mount and pouch. The Flip Video Mino is available in either black or white finishes.
