Brother International on Friday unveiled the MFC-6490CW, a new "all in one" printer for US$299.99.

Brother's newest all-in-one printer can output at page sizes up to 11 x 17 inches.The MFC-6490CW can print, copy, scan and fax at sizes up to 11 x 17 inches. It's Mac and Windows-compatible, includes Wi-Fi capabilities and incorporates a 3.3-inch LCD display. It's also equipped with a 50 sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), dual paper trays with up to 400 sheet total capacity, and Super G3 33.6Kbps fax modem.

The printer can output up to 35 pages per minute (PPM) in black, 28 ppm in color at up to 6000 x 1200 dots per inch (DPI). It uses four different ink color cartridges. In additional to 802.11g-compatible Wi-Fi connectivity, the device also has Ethernet and USB 2.0 interfaces.

It copies at up to 23 copies per minute in black, 20 in color, and scans at resolutions up to 19200 DPI (interpolated). PictBridge-enabled, the camera can also do direct photo printing from digital media cards and USB flash drives. It's TWAIN-compliant and compatible with Mac OS X 10.2.4 or later. Included with the printer is Presto PageManager Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software.

Brother advises that fax sending is supported over the network for Macs, but fax receiving doesn't work on the Mac -- faxes received by the device will be printed on the device.
