Xnet Communications GmbH has introduced a new version of iSoftPhone, its IP telephony software for Mac OS X. It costs US$35.

iSoftPhone lets you make and receive telephone calls on your Mac using Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony services. It works with popular VoIP services like Vonage, Gizmo Project, SIPphone and many others.

New to the 2.3 release is Short Message Service (SMS) support. SMS and Instant Message (IM) chat is now integrated with Mac OS X's Address Book. iSoftPhone will show your presence status, and can block users from messaging or calling and viewing your online status using a new "Privacy" mode. Port auto-discovery makes it easier to get Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) services configured, and iSoftPhone can be opened using Growl notifications.

iSoftPhone requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
