Nintendo Promises a Wii Bit More Storage

A long-term storage solution for Wii is a matter of when, not if, says Nintendo.

"In our view, this is becoming much more of a mainstream problem, which is why we have a sense of urgency to solve it," said Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime, in an interview with MTV News last week. "It's an issue we are aware of, and we're working to find a solution, and we will," he promised.

Unlike Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the Wii does not support hard drive storage for downloads and game saves. Rather, there is only 512MB of internal flash memory, which discourages avid Wii owners from downloading content and making new purchases.

Downloaded games and additional Wii content can be transferred to SD cards or deleted and re-downloaded for free, but it's inconvenient to say the least.
