ContentWatch on Monday announced the release of Net Nanny for the Mac, a new version of their Internet filtering and parental control software. It costs US$39.99 for the initial license plus $19.99 to protect each additional Mac (or PC) in the house.
Net Nanny enables parents and others to block pornography and gambling sites, and lets you specify what games or parental ratings your children can access. It integrates with "Safe Search" options on search engines like Google, Yahoo, Dogpile, AltaVista, Lycos, AllTheWeb and MSN.
Other features include localization in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese, usage reports that provide you with a detailed log of users' Internet activities, time management restrictions, browser alerts when access to a blocked or dangerous page is attempted and a "Content Assistant" that helps you to define the appropriate level of protection for each user.
