Surround-Sound Speaker: Yamaha Digital Sound Projector YSP-900 3 of 13

Since Yamaha's $700 Digital Sound Projector YSP-900 has only one box, you don't have to string wires around the room. You don't have to turn it on every time you turn on the TV, either: It has a standby mode that uses only 0.1 watt of power. With 21 separate speaker drivers, an internal surround-sound decoding capability, and digital audio inputs (to accept audio output from your TV or cable box), this speaker delivers much improved audio quality (and pretty good surround-sound output). It comes with an Intellibeam module--a small device that automatically calibrates the correct surround-sound levels. Want more bass? You can plug a subwoofer into the YSP-900--so there's no need to add a home-theater receiver.
