AOL has introduced AIM Express, a new Flash-based Web version of their AOL Instant Messenger service.

The service lets users chat with other AIM users on the Web without having to first download and configure client software. It features tabbed IM conversations, status message support, a text message mode, the ability to rollover your buddies' screen names to view icons and check their status messages, and more.

AIM Express works with popular Web browsers including Safari and Firefox.
