Optima Systems has announced the release of PageSpinner 5.1, an update to its Web development software for Mac OS X. A free update for registered users, PageSpinner costs US$29.95. That also includes a registration for MapSpinner, an HTML image map editor, and CamSpinner, a video and webcam utility.

PageSpinner is a text editor that incorporates six editing modes, color-coded styling of HTML and scripts, easy access to frequently used formatting, support for include files and live previews. An integrated HTML Assistant helps you compose HTML pages and create JavaScript actions. Other features include built-in FTP support and HTML syntax checking.

Improvements to version 5.1 include improved compatibility for Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard," an option to auto-check HTML and PHP syntax whenever a page is site, new Web site commands in the dock menu, support for linking to iPhone-supported movie formats, new option to select the browser identification when downloading pages via HTTP, user interface enhancements, bug fixes and other changes.

PageSpinner system requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
