Xbox Live Primetime Delayed until 2009

Originally scheduled to launch in November, Microsoft's virtual game show over Xbox Live has been bumped to spring.

Microsoft officials say the delay is necessary to ensure a glitch-free deployment of the new Xbox 360 menu system on Nov. 19, reports Forbes.

"By waiting until the spring, Microsoft's offering will likely go up against a more compelling lineup of television shows--and put its chances of instant success at risk," surmises Forbes' Chris Morris upon breaking the news.

Announced in July at E3, Xbox Live Primetime was described as a regularly scheduled game show where Xbox Live members could compete for real-world prizes. The mainstream-friendly idea was meant to compliment the new Xbox interface this fall, with the first "Primetime" show being an online version of NBC's "1 vs. 100."
